The University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Centre for Creative Arts (CCA) will present the 24th edition of the Time of the Writer International Festival virtually on the festival’s social media channels from 15 to 21 March 2021. That’s this week! HOORAY!
The line-up features incredible writers and thinkers, and you can enjoy their company right from the comfort of your own home. The official opening is today, 15 March, at 11am. The full programme is available here.
From Monday to Thursday this week there are four sessions to enjoy – an 11am ‘brunch hour’, a 3pm ‘coffee club’, a 5pm ‘cocktail hour’ and a 7pm ‘dinner table’. On Friday there is a bonus 1pm ‘lunch hour’ session and over the weekend there are a few special events, including a celebration of poetry on Sunday (International Poetry Day).
Sessions are streamable via Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. The public can register to be in zoom audience members by visiting the Time Of The Writer Festival website and choosing the session on the programme they would like to register for. Spots are limited to 100 per session!
This Thursday evening at 7pm I’ll be part of a ‘dinner table’ session moderated by Tracey Saunders featuring Andy Kawa, Xoliswa Nduneni-Ngema, and Fred Khumalo. We’ll be talking about gender, power and violence. Register to attend here.
